I’m probably a bit jaded due to nostalgia, it’s one of my mom’s favorites!) There are lots of things to like, but hopefully you all like each other, and yourself. What are some feeling that you have? Does anyone feel silly? Let’s shake those sillies out! The teacher will also be collecting the “What is an Occupation?” expert report from each student.Today we’re going to have stories all about how we feel. The teacher will take note of the responses during the portion of the lesson when the class is discussing the things to record on the “Learned” section of the KWL chart. The teacher will record the students’ responses on the chart. Summary: After completing the activity, the class will fill in the “Learned” portion of the KWL chart. The students will be given numbered chart paper for which they will color red if the characteristic is false and green if it is true. The class will then complete there expert report, title d "What is an Occupation?" The teacher will call out true and false characteristics of an occupation. The discussion will be supported with a picture poster labeled “Occupation” to reinforce the concept of an occupation. The teacher will then introduce the definition of job and occupation. Instructional Strategies: The lesson will follow with a short video, found on BrainPOP Jr., titled “Community Helpers.” This video discusses different jobs within the community. The teacher will follow the book and brief discussion by recording the students’ ideas and questions they have about jobs on a KWL chart. After reading the story the teacher will pose questions that will engage the students in thinking about jobs. Introduction: The teacher will read the book “Worm Gets a Job” by Kathy Caple.
